We have no better example of a life full of Grace then the Blessed Virgin Mary, expressed and celebrated today as Madonna Addolorata, Our Mother of Sorrows.
She kept the mystery of God incarnate within her heart at the words of the Angel and the overshadowing of the Holy Spirit.
She kept the mystery of God incarnate within her heart on that cold night in Nazareth, as she nursed her son, Jesus.
She kept the mystery within her heart as she and Joseph taught him the ways of the world. She kept the mystery within her heart through his public ministry.
She kept the mystery within her heart on the road from Nazareth to Calvary. She kept the mystery within her heart in the sorrow of the Cross.
She kept the mystery of God incarnate within her heart as her son, Jesus lay dead in her arms.
Mary, the Madonna Addolorata is not only our model of faith, hope and love, she is our mother who comforts us in our sorrows. Jesus himself with his last breath said - behold your mother.
It is Mary who with the determination and fierce love of a mother who intercedes on her children’s behalf.
Mary, the Mother of God, Queen of Heaven, in her sorrowful expression as the Madonna Addolorata teaches us all things as we remember her words at the Wedding at Cana - do what he tells you.
Pray for us, O’ Holy Mother of God, that we might be worthy of the promises of Christ.
